Uttar Pradesh to Fully Train Police Force on New Criminal Laws by March 2025

The Uttar Pradesh government has set an ambitious goal of training its entire police force on newly implemented criminal laws by March 2025. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the importance of equipping law enforcement officers with the necessary knowledge and resources to enforce these laws effectively.

Training Progress and Implementation

The new criminal laws, enacted in July 2024, require police personnel to be well-versed in updated legal frameworks and enforcement strategies. During a recent review meeting, officials reported that all senior officers, including IPS and PPS officers, station house officers, and technical staff, have completed their training. Additionally, 99% of inspectors, 95% of sub-inspectors, and 74% of head constables and constables have undergone the training process.

Enhancing Public Awareness

To ensure public understanding of the new legal provisions, the Chief Minister has directed authorities to launch awareness campaigns. Special exhibitions and short educational videos will be developed, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which is expected to attract over 400 million visitors. Social media platforms will also be utilized to share real-life cases where the new laws have led to swift and effective justice.

Strengthening Forensic Capabilities

Recognizing the increasing role of forensic evidence in criminal investigations, the government has planned to deploy additional forensic mobile units across all districts. The recruitment of forensic experts will be expedited to strengthen the state’s investigative capabilities. Furthermore, efforts are being made to install video conferencing facilities in prisons and police stations to streamline legal proceedings and reduce logistical challenges.

Commitment to Law Enforcement Excellence

The Uttar Pradesh government’s comprehensive training initiative and resource allocation reflect its commitment to modernizing law enforcement. By ensuring that police personnel are well-equipped with legal knowledge and necessary tools, the administration aims to enhance public safety and justice delivery across the state.
